Distance sampling

For people studying courses on Distance sampling:

  • Theory: The fundamental principles that underpin analysis of field observations from line transects or point counts
  • Analysis: Estimating density or population size of endangered species, and the factors that affect these, taking into account variations in detection through space and time
  • Survey design: Calculating the survey effort needed to generate robust estimates of species density from point counts or transects
