My aim in taking this course is to improve the use of this software (qgis) in map making.
My goal is to be able to use QGIS to create map.
Also I want to be able to map out species distribution.

Hi Cee, how have you so far recorded your survey locations ? Are they marked on manually on a paper map, or have you used GoogleEarth to identify them as points? (in which case you can use the KML file from GoogleEarth to import the points direct into QGIS - its one of the things QGIS is really good at is integrating data from lots of different sources in lots of different formats). My goal is to be able to do the simple activities that I can do in ArcGIS like adding layers, creating new maps, overlaying, clipping etc for both vector and raster layers.

The first time that I did it I had to mark the points manually on a map that I had traced but it did not come out well, then I had to ask one of my colleagues who has experience with QGIS but I am really hopeful that through this course I will be able to do it by myself. Thank you for the advice on how I can do it

I’m currrently using QGIS to create isoscapes, so i’d like to learn how to combine data and show isotopic variation in maps as simple and easy to read as posible.

My goals for this training is to create a map that can visualize the spread and severity of the algae data that I have collected. I want to merge my algae survey data with my gps tracking data.
My learning goal is to gain enough knowledge about this great tool in order to manipulate it in the correct way and get a new learning experience

My main goal in this course is to improve my knowledge in GIS.
I’m following every detail in these classes.
For me it is about 8 years ago I learned and used GIS in school. Now that I am working as junior ecologist again I want to refresh all my knowledge and make sure I can easily make data visible on maps as well as get the understanding of all features and possibilities of QGIS.
My goals for this course is to be able to use the basic of GIS on my own as a tool to apply in my studies.
