I’m Dion, from Mpumalanga province. I’m a nature conservationist. Im having a Diploma in Nature conservation, I think the GIS course It will help me a lot during my field work I will be able to collect data and samples, it will make things easier and faster for me.

I am Asiegbu Esther Amarachi. From Nigeria. I am an MSc student in wildlife Ecology., Actually I am currently learning Data science to become a Data analyst to be able to apply the knowledge in my field of study.
I basically learnt remote sensing and GIS back then in university but it was just a a surface scale nevertheless I am glad to be here to learn from the best.
I really need to tackle problems in wildlife Ecology, conservation and management in remote areas where it seems inaccessible and abandoned in Nigeria and africa at large.
As a partial beginner in GIS I need it to advance in my career.

Hi everyone.
I have a BSc in Biological Sciences (Zoology) from the University of Zimbabwe. Was stationed as a wildlife research officer for over a year, focusing on carnivore population studies using camera traps as well as raptor nest monitoring (including vultures) in Zimbabwe. Currently doing my MPhil (Fisheries and Aquaculture) and hoping this course will add more knowledge to my mapping skills with QGIS!

Hi everyone,
I’m Chris and although I am currently working as a self-employed musician and artist I am looking for a career change, hoping to move into marine biology as it is an area I’ve loved for a long time. I’m working through a diploma in Marine Biology and am trying to learn as much as I can and get involved in various voluntary roles where possible. I’m interested in the data side of things and so have joined here to do the GIS course.

My name is Victor from Malaysia. I did my BSc in Animal Resource Science and Management and continue my MSc in Zoology, and I am working on the latitudinal comparison of thermoregulation and movement in specific lizard species in Malaysia.
As I am trying to understand the ecology of the species in different latitudes. For example, thermoregulation preferences, movement, home range, etc. This opens up the door for me to learn QGIS to improve my knowledge, skills in the conversation field.

I’m Irene, I live in Greece. My BSc is in Biology and my MSc in Ecology.
Till now all working/field experience that I have is about wolves in Greece, and about the mitigation of human/carnivore conflict that has to do with livestock loss.
I am really excited about the course and I’m looking forward to be more confident in using GIS in my projects!

I am Tim Forssman, a senior lecturer at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. I specialise in archaeology, and more specifically hunter-gatherer studies, such as stone tool analysis, rock art, landscape archaeology and other related subfields.
I have been using GIS for many years but appreciate refresher courses. I also use it at a very basic level and so I’m hoping to learn a little more and become more versatile with the tool.

Hi, my name is Tamara, I’m from Slovenia, and I’m in the last year of my master’s. I study Ecology and Biodiversity. I have a great passion for studying large carnivores and I have a special interest in managing conflicts between humans and these interesting animals. I’m a big fan of camera trapping and observing animals in their natural environment.
Although I attended a basic QGIS course years ago, I am still a beginner as I have never used it in practice and I have unfortunately already forgotten most of what I learned. Hopefully, I will be able to use this new knowledge in writing my master’s thesis.
In my free time, I like to take various courses that can benefit me with my studies and will help me in a future job. I like going to the mountains and camping, I enjoy biking, and recently I found a new hobby, and that is linocut.
