Hello! I really like your map! It’s really clear and I like that you kept the open street map layer and how clearly displayed everything else is. The only thing I would suggest is maybe moving the North Arrow outside the map for it to show more but otherwise everything else is great!
It’s strange that locking the layers did not work as it should have done - maybe there was a glitch in the QGIS and maybe you could try again? I clicked on the small map in the print layout and then locked the layer under Item Properties.
The Map shows the distribution of Gibbons by size in Che Tao Nature Reserve. This was quite a refresher course with clear instructions. I am now refreshed i just need to revisit all the steps and understand different layers and their properties.
My challenge in this task was on adjusting the size of the map itself
This week’s assignment is challenging but fun. Changing the attributes helped me understand how to make the visual of the map better. I tried to have an inset of the larger area and through trial and error I managed to discover how to adjust different attributes for different features on both maps.
The only problem I was facing was I can’t get the legend and the gibbon group sizes (for both surveys) to turn out the same as the example. Do I have to combine the data for both surveys, or I just change the symbology to match survey 1? For now I just kept the symbols different to look at the difference between survey 1 and 2.
Actually I like your map, looks like a professional map! May I suggest that the font colour for the scale bar label to be something that is in contrast to the background?
Nice map! I like that you made a zoom in inset. Will definitely use this in future. May I suggest you to reduce the size of the cross grid to make it the map looks ‘cleaner’?
This module was the most challenging but very good to work through. The only real issue I had was that for some reason, the CRS information on the grid wouldn’t show the same values as everyone else has (21 ºN and 104 ºE). I have tried to fix the CRS settings but whatever I do, it only displays 0 º - 12 ºN and 0 º to 18 ºE.
Can anyone please tell me what is going wrong there? I am baffled. I’ve checked online and as far as I can see everything is set right. Can anyone help?
Otherwise, the rest all went okay and the instructions were clear and easy to follow. I can see how maps can be altered now to show different data for different purposes and how to present them. I will continue to experiment with various settings to produce more maps for practice.
I was also able to add the inset map with a box showing the extent of the main map. Can see how that would be very useful in cases like this to show a large map, or to show a more detailed section of a larger area.
So really, I think it’s just that issue with the grid. If anyone can help there I’d really appreciate it. Thank you.
This module was very challenging compared to the first ones, i do not know how many countless times i tried to redo my work but still struggled to add some features on it. The question i have is, are there any other methods for my data to be classified and how to add the grid because i have been stuck for days trying to get it right but still struggled.
I feel so bad that after several attempts it’s all what I’ve got. I have reflected in myself that I did something wrong and I should retry working on it until I get it. This will be a challenge for me to take to try harder, study harder, and comprehend way way better for me to finally see a progressive result.
If anyone has the same problem as me, I feel you and I am sending you virtual hugs. It’s better trying than never. I may failed this but yes, I gave my time and efforts while working on it. I guess, I have several factors here that made me unfocused, bothered. But no matter what, I’m still proud that I tried.
Hello lizard, I love your name! all observations are mine. I have a personal database with all the reptiles and amphibians that I see since 2017 approximately, but the observations of that map correspond to my Master´s final project fieldwork -a laps of 2-3 months-
Costa rica is wonderful about frogs. In one day you would see more amphibians than mine in one mont lol
This weeks module was both challenging and fun. I would get confused on what exactly I wanted my map’s message to be and would redo my map several times, but with each redo I understood better how to do the instructions that were being given. I was manipulating the map on my own without constantly looking back at the instructions by the end, plus this module allowed for a lot of creativity and individualization although I did still rely heavily on her example. I think that this module did well to tie in everything that had been discussed in the previous weeks. This helped me progress towards my learning goal by giving me some confidence in potentially being able to actually use this system for future data of my own.
Hello! Your map is very well done and I love how you incorporated the different parts together! I hadn’t thought of overlapping different parts as room was definitely something that I struggled with in making my own map.
was a huge challenge make this map cause i have some doubts, but i’m very happy for the final result.on this map i express the evidence points collected and the limits of the area of the study.
This assignment helped understand process of refining the map we have made so far, adding just the right amount of details, and exporting it as an image. I wanted to show the landscape characteristics of NR, so I kept the map layer. I still need to learn the method to add the inset map for a better reference point which I will have to explore in the next step. The step-by-step instruction was very detailed in completing this assignment.
